Paradise lost and paradise regained... 🙏🏻

It was the darkest time in my life. I had lost my husband of 50 years to cancer. I had sold my home which we lived in together for a long time. I moved in with my daughter. Every single thing in my life had changed. I really did not know what to do.

My daughter suggested that I should look at something to help me with my life and took me to the Ambler SAAC. I was reluctant to go there. My thought was, I didn’t know anyone there. The Center is for old people…it’s not my kind of environment…I am not sure if I will be accepted by anyone there, etc. Though I have been in this country for almost 50 years, most of my friends and family are from India…  I went there with all these negative thoughts in my mind…

The moment I entered the center, I was greeted by Julie with a big smile. She introduced me to Aimee who was very friendly and full of enthusiasm about the Center. Her angelic face was very reassuring. One gentleman noticed that I was getting a tour, and he told me I would love this place! I was happy to see all of that and decided to join SAAC. I’m so glad that I made that decision. That gentleman was so right. I have been blessed to meet these wonderful people who I can call my friends… more like family. They have given me a place I love to be in. There’s no place for color, religion, or age. Every single one has made me their friend. Dolores, Sandy, Mary, Lucy1,2, and 3, Dorothy, Maryanne, Lynn, and all!

Trish takes care of my lunch, making sure that vegetarian food is available for me. She loves me so much! The instructors are very knowledgeable about senior citizens’ needs, and their exercise programs are great. Our art teacher Jenny is so talented and beautiful and encouraging that there are no words to describe it. Nancy got me into dancing Zumba. Simply amazing! Cynthia teaches us how to take care of our plants. I love it.

But the top is our Aimee!!👍👍. Aimee has been working so hard to make this place more appealing for everyone. So many new programs, so many great artists to entertain us, so many new ideas to work on, and most of all she has the heart of an angel! I love her so much for her energy and passion for all of us! She really is the heart and soul of this center. I’m so happy to be part of this amazing group! My best wishes to all my new friends who are now my family!

Sincerely,

What Montco SAAC means to me…

I moved to Ambler in April 2021 after my husband passed away suddenly. In March of 2022 I came to Montco SAAC looking for activities and friendship. Over this short period of time,  I’ve developed meaningful friendships and look forward to being here during the day.

Everyone is very welcoming and caring which makes this Center enjoyable.  At first, I was apprehensive to do the fitness class, however I have fallen in love with Chair Aerobics, Full Body Chair pump, and Chair Yoga. Because of these classes my osteoporosis has improved, and my overall health is better. Without Montco SAAC I feel I would be depressed and closed off from the world. The members and staff here are excellent and compassionate and that’s what makes this such a special place.
