MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. – Montco SAAC is proud to announce that during the last fiscal year, the nonprofit organization served more than 124,000 meals to homebound seniors and congregate meal participants at our senior centers in Norristown and Ambler. This remarkable achievement underscores their commitment to combating senior hunger and promoting nutritional well-being in our community.
Montco SAAC's robust Meals on Wheels program, a lifeline for many seniors, operates out of the Norristown Senior Center, Ambler Senior Center, and Mt. Carmel Church in Glenside.
This program is not just about delivering meals; it's about the community coming together to connect home-bound seniors with nutritional support and social services.
It's the collective effort of the community that provides vital support to seniors who rely on these services, and your involvement can make a significant difference in their quality of life and allows them to age in place.
"This milestone, a testament to the power of community, would not have been possible without the dedication of more than 100 volunteers and our small but hardworking staff," said Mark Clark, Executive Director of Montco SAAC. "Their tireless efforts ensure that our seniors receive nutritious meals and compassionate care every day. We are also deeply grateful for our partnership with Manna on Main, a nonprofit meals provider based in Landsdale, Pa., whose support is invaluable."
Balancing the needs of our seniors with limited resources remains a constant challenge, particularly given federal funding cuts to senior nutrition programs and Pennsylvania experiencing some of the highest food price increases in the nation. The urgency of these challenges underscores the need for continued community support.
"Our dedicated volunteers and the support from the Montgomery County Office of Senior Services make all the difference," said Soo Lee, Nutrition Services Director. "We could not meet the increasing demand without their unwavering commitment and support."
